Do we want to review a band that’s known as subculture survivors? Oh yes we do. Calcify is the first of the debut tracks from Filed Fangs.
Calcify is an electro-punk teaser with some heavy and vigorous synths – dynamic and potent! Being the bass and synth junkies that we are here at Tin Tin Tin we can’t help but get immersed in the frenzy and turmoil that comes with Calcify. It’s loud, complex and infuriated – just how we love it.
Hammering synths fire up this electronica-infused track with callings to the nu-rave “in your face” disco riposte. With some decelerated yet bruising stomps, it brings back memories of Does It Offend You, Yeah? and The Whip. But they are memories, this is Filed Fangs and they exist for a new progression in post-post-punk.
Filed Fangs are a Manchester-based duo with Paul Morley on vocals, bass and keys and Boz Hayward on guitars. With some sonic assistance from David Carden, Filed Fangs have created an extravaganza in Calcify that needs to be explored further and there is undoubtedly more to come as Filed Fangs call this track their ‘first bite to a Filed Fangs feast’.
Having already received air time, Filed Fangs release their track, Calcify, today. Go get some synths in your veins…
